A Shift in Roles: Krystle's New Schedule

Since late July, Krystle has been replaced on "Today in AZ" by Ginger Jeffries, sparking curiosity and concern among loyal viewers. However, there's no need to worry—Krystle is still very much a part of the 12 News team. She has simply transitioned to a new role within the station. Starting July 29, Krystle began her new position as the dayside meteorologist, meaning you'll now find her delivering the live Weather Impact Forecast every weekday at noon during "NBC News Daily" and at 12 News at 1.

This change was confirmed by Ivan Hernandez, the station’s news director, who shared that Krystle will also be working on specialized weather and environmental journalism, further expanding her role at 12 News. So, while you might miss seeing her first thing in the morning, you'll still be able to catch her insightful and engaging weather reports—just a few hours later in the day.

A Staple in Arizona Weather Reporting

Krystle Henderson has been a fixture at 12 News since 2013, becoming a trusted source for weather information and a friendly face that viewers have come to rely on. An Arizona native, Krystle grew up in the Chandler and Gilbert areas and is a proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. Her deep connection to the state and her passion for meteorology have made her an integral part of the 12 News team.

Despite the shift in her schedule, Krystle’s commitment to providing accurate and timely weather updates remains unchanged. Arizona residents who are used to starting their day with her can rest easy knowing that she’s still on the air—just at a different time.

What’s Next for 'Today in AZ'?

As "Today in AZ" continues to evolve, viewers have already seen some changes, including the addition of Troy Hayden, who joined the station on August 1 after his coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Troy is now co-anchoring the 4 p.m. slot with Tram Mai and the 5 p.m. slot with Caribe Devine. With these new faces and changes, the show is taking on a fresh dynamic, keeping things exciting for viewers.

So, while the morning routine might look a bit different without Krystle, her new role allows her to continue delivering the weather forecasts Arizonans trust, just a little later in the day. Whether you catch her at noon or 1 p.m., you can still rely on Krystle Henderson to keep you informed about all things weather-related in Arizona.
