Ravey Leaves The Woody Show: Fans Left in the Dark

Fans of The Woody Show were blindsided when Ranae Ravey, a beloved original host, abruptly departed from the show in June 2024. Since its debut on iHeart Radio in 2014, The Woody Show has built a reputation for pushing boundaries and diving headfirst into controversy. However, the recent drama is unfolding behind the scenes, and Ravey’s unexpected exit has left many questions unanswered.

Ravey was a cornerstone of The Woody Show, having worked alongside host Jeff “Woody” Fife through various stations since the 1990s. Her sudden departure shocked listeners who have followed her journey from WKQX Chicago to KITS San Francisco and KPNT St. Louis. Despite the common occurrence of radio hosts leaving without much fanfare, Ravey's exit was notably abrupt and mysterious.

In a heartfelt Facebook statement reshared by The Woody Show, Ravey addressed her departure with a mix of sadness and optimism. “I know this is a tough day for long-time fans of the show. It’s a tough time for me as well,” she wrote. “I know everyone wants more information or ‘the truth,’ but for right now — all I will say — is that I will miss the Woody Show fans like crazy. Ninety-five percent of you have been the kindest most loyal friends a gal could have — and love you all — even the haters. I take comfort in 10 great years — and I wouldn’t give those up for anything. I promise that I am OK and this will end up being a good thing for me — ME LOVE ALWAYS — Ravey.”

Ravey’s statement hints at personal disappointment, yet she remains hopeful for the future. Fans quickly began speculating about the circumstances behind her departure. A Reddit user, who reached out to Ravey via Instagram, reported receiving a response that suggested she was under a “gag order” and didn’t leave by choice. “I can’t really say — under a gag order — this isn’t what I wanted — but I’m doing alright — and everything will eventually be OK,” Ravey reportedly said.

Woody himself seemed to acknowledge the situation on-air, expressing regret that a planned farewell didn’t come to fruition. He hinted at a potential “conflict of interest” or “termination,” which, combined with rumors of iHeart Radio budget cuts affecting other shows, fueled speculation that Ravey’s departure might have been financially motivated.

The reactions from listeners have been a mix of confusion and sadness. Ravey’s role as the only female host on The Woody Show provided a unique and balancing perspective on the show’s often edgy content. Her departure has left a noticeable gap, and fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment. One Redditor shared, “Ravey is a part of that foursome and cannot be replaced. Something seems weird, I feel like she went to management on something and was let go? … I’m so curious to know the whole story.”

Listeners have paid tribute to Ravey’s contributions, acknowledging her role as the voice of reason and balance on the show. “She was the voice of reason and balance so often. She genuinely seemed to care about the rest of the cast,” wrote one fan.

Amidst the speculation and emotional responses, Ravey has kept in touch with her supporters through social media. “Thank you for all the kind words,” she posted on Reddit. “This is not an easy time for me — I’m legit heartbroken — but all the nice messages are really helping me get through this — I will be OK and land on my feet.”

As Ravey moves forward, The Woody Show fans are left to grapple with the uncertainty surrounding her exit and the future of the show without her.
