Hunter Schafer continues to prove she’s one of the most intriguing forces in fashion and beauty today. The actress and model consistently pushes boundaries, and her latest appearances at Paris Couture Week were no exception. From effortlessly disheveled waves to delicate face-framing braids, Schafer once again delivered looks that felt both nostalgic and refreshingly new.

At Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s guest collection for Jean Paul Gaultier, she embraced a shipwrecked-chic aesthetic that was equal parts undone and seductive. Wearing a plunging white lace peplum top with cropped flared pants and cutout black heels, Schafer struck a perfect balance between soft femininity and edginess. Her tousled hair, crafted by stylist Jillian Halouska, added to the allure. Described as a mix of Keira Knightley’s pirate-era curls and Kate Moss’s after-hours club glamour, the style felt perfectly imperfect—sexy, messy, and carefree.

To achieve this windswept effect, Halouska used a mix of Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil and Bumble and Bumble’s Sumo Liquid Wax Spray, working with multiple curling iron sizes to create a variety of textures. A blast of cool air from the blow dryer gave the hair a lived-in movement, while the spray wax at the roots allowed for that effortless, flipped-to-the-side look. The final touch? A few pieces were cut to artfully drape over Schafer’s eye, adding to the sultry, laissez-faire feel.

Just days later, Schafer switched gears with a completely different, yet equally stunning, beauty moment at the Sidaction gala. Channeling an ethereal, almost otherworldly aesthetic, she paired an off-the-shoulder cream Jean Paul Gaultier dress with a black leather jacket for contrast. Her hair, styled in long, soft waves with barely-there micro braids framing her face, was inspired by Sofia Coppola’s cult classic The Virgin Suicides.

For this look, Halouska focused on precision and subtle detail. She used Shu Uemura Pomade to give the braids shine and Sisley Hairspray to keep them perfectly in place. To maintain a natural movement throughout the rest of Schafer’s hair, Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Lightweight Shine Finishing Spray was applied for a soft, airy finish.

Achieving these micro braids takes technique. Halouska advises starting with clean parting, using clips to section off hair while weaving in only top pieces to frame the face. A touch of styling paste on the fingertips keeps the braids smooth and flyaway-free. Securing the braid low at the nape allows it to blend seamlessly into the style while maintaining its integrity. The final result? A whisper of detail that catches the light and subtly enhances Schafer’s ethereal aura.

Schafer has long mastered the art of contrasts in beauty—effortless yet intentional, rebellious yet refined. Whether she’s channeling an early 2000s milkmaid with a Prada headscarf or evoking ’90s supermodel nonchalance, her references are always dynamic, nostalgic, and a little unexpected.

As she continues to experiment with her style, one thing is certain: Schafer’s beauty looks will always keep us guessing. So what’s next? A nod to grunge-era Winona Ryder? A sleek, futuristic take on cyberpunk beauty? With Schafer, anything is possible—and we’ll be watching every step of the way.
